Question From A Reader
"I'd like to use self-striping yarn for my next project. What projects would show the stripes without being overwhelming?"
Self-striping yarn is indeed a delightful choice for adding pops of color! I find it works beautifully with:
Scarves with basic stitches
Simple beanies
Crocheted blankets in single or half double crochet
Each project allows the yarn’s color changes to create stunning visual effects without complicated stitching. See my guide here for more inspiration and tips.
What projects have you loved making with self-striping yarn? I’d love to hear! Reply to this or leave a comment below.
Worthy Of A Spot On Your Bookshelf
Here’s my weekly recommendation for an excellent resource to help you on your crocheting journey.
The Yarn Garden by J. Marsha Michler
“Learn everything you need to know about working with plant-based yarns in this delightful read, and then some! Their construction, how they work up, and their production. It also includes some designs to practice what you've learned.”

Hand-Curated Reads You Can't Miss…
A Year In Nature, Beautifully Bound
There's something so lovely about keeping a nature journal.
That's exactly what the creator behind
has done, documenting the seasons through 125 hand-painted watercolors, stretched across a 5 1/2 meters long concertina sketchbook.Take a peek at this beautiful journey.
Using ink made from local Shaggy Ink cap mushrooms adds a charming touch, transporting the reader to the environment that inspired each page.
A heartwarming blend of art and nature!
Warmth In A Dish
's recipe for Butternut Squash & Mushroom Lasagna is the perfect example of comfort food! Veering away from her usual Middle Eastern flair, Adeena takes inspiration from Northern Italian influences, creating a lasagna with a burst of fall flavors. What intrigues me most is her twist on tradition: brown butter béchamel!

Insider Inspiration…
One Year, 10,946 Post-It Notes
Daren Jannace took on a creative project, sketching 30 drawings a day on Post-It notes for an entire year. Each note, a tiny canvas of quirky shapes and bursts of color, forms part of a stop-motion story titled "10,946."
This film isn’t just a delight visually, but it's also an peek into Jannace’s evolving creativity. Watching this animation feels like flipping through a diary.
A Burst Of Color & Life
Rosanna Tasker’s dreamy illustrations offer a warm refuge from the winter chills. Reading her thoughts about embracing challenge while maintaining a personal style, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys was so inspiring!
Hope this issue has sparked your curiosity and creativity!
