Winston The Dog
A gentle giant...
On several of our walks at the billabong, we’ve seen Winston the Irish Wolfhound, and his owner, Hannah. They’re such a lovely pair!
When I asked Hannah if she’d be willing to share Winston’s story here on Pet Of The Week, I was delighted when she said yes.
So, over to you, Hannah…
Winston The Dog: Hannah’s Pet
Age: 13 years, 5 months.
Favorite Toys: In Winston's youth he loved anything plush with a squeaker inside - the more stuffing the better (as it’d end up everywhere around the house). He isn't interested in anything these days though.
Likes: Snacks, pats, walks, car rides, the river.
Dislikes: Stairs (they’re becoming more difficult in his old age), being left behind, and not being able to venture everywhere with Mum throughout the day.
A Favorite Memory: I went on a day trip to Lake Tyrrell with some friends earlier this year. It was so windy that day!
As we were walking through the salt lake, my bunnings hat blew off.
I don't remember the last time I saw Winston spot something and chase after it with such intent and speed, but he did!
We were all amazed - the old boy still has a lot of go in him.
Recently I took Winston on a solo holiday to Hepburn Springs/Daylesford.
When we went and checked out Lake Daylesford, while other people's dogs would walk up to the lake to get a drink, Winston instead decided to get right in.
He loves cooling off by getting into the water & just laying himself down in the water. (Mind you, it was quite a cold day!)
Winston certainly loves the water! 😊
